Honourable Director General Agriculture Research-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rauf, Director Agriculture Research (Merged Areas) Mr. Fazli Wahab along with Dr. Muhammad Asim, Director Agriculture Linkages Program, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (ALP-PARC) Islamabad visited Agriculture Research Sub-Station Parachinar District Kurram. Station Incharge Senior Research Officer Mr. Iqrar Hussain and other staff of the Sub-Station warmly welcomed them.
Station Incharge gave a detailed presentation on regular as well as Research and Development activities including ALP Project titled “Determination of Fertilizers Requirements for Optimizing Tomato Productivity in Tribal District Kurram” followed by discussion covering different aspects and suggestions for future research work. Later on they visited Soil and Water Testing Laboratory Parachinar where Mr. Liaqat Khan Research Officer briefed them on the status of soil analysis, fertilizers recommendations, overall soil fertility status and soil analysis of soil samples received from Agriculture Extension department under KP-Soil Fertility Mapping Project and inspected the lab activities. They also visited Tissue Culture Laboratory, Growth Room and Green House Parachinar. Dr. Waqas, Research Officer apprised them on the different activities of tissue culture section. Later on they inspected newly c
onstructed building. SDO C&W and contractors were also present on the occasion. The work was found satisfactory. Later, DG Agriculture Research, Director (Merged Areas), and Director ALP PARC visited Research and Demonstration plots of tomato crop grown under ALP project at Amalkot, Shublan and Mirbakhil Sehra. They inspected the plots and interacted with farmers. They appreciated the efforts of Agriculture Research Kurram and also gave valuable suggestions for further improvement.
